MMU Now Giving Scholarships To High Achievers

Cyberjaya, 23rd March 2011 – Multimedia University today announced its Merit Scholarship, a financial assistance programme that rewards and aids high performing Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM) leavers.

The Merit Scholarship is a programme that aids the recipient by reducing the tuition fees of Foundation and Bachelor courses either by 25 per cent, or by 50 per cent. To qualify for the 25 per cent discount (structure B), the candidate should have 7 or 8 As for SPM leavers, or have a CGPA between 3.50 and 3.74 if they are STPM leavers.

To qualify for the 50 per cent discount (structure A), SPM leavers must have 9 As or more, while STPM leavers need to have a CGPA of at least 3.75.

MMU's President, Professor Dato' Dr. Muhamad Rasat Muhamad, said, "We are introducing the Merit Scholarship in order to attract students who are the cream of the crop to MMU. MMU has always produced graduates who are highly sought-after by employers, both locally and internationally. We are confident that having top students in MMU can bring about results that will truly be astounding."

Prof. Dr. Rasat says that with the Merit Scholarship, suitably qualified and performing students pursuing an Engineering programme at MMU could end up paying about the same amount that would have to be paid at public Malaysian universities.
